About the Club The Redcliffe Bridge Club was established in 1967. Club RoomsThe club welcomes visitors to our air-conditioned, wheel-chair friendly premises in the Sutton Centre, 157 Sutton Street Redcliffe. The club, like the surrounding peninsula, is growing and offers all levels of competition from beginners to experienced players. HistoryIn 1967 a number of aspiring Redclifffe bridge players met at the home of Elsie Lincoln. This first group of Elsie Lincoln, Charles and Lillian Cochram , Colin and Beryl Dodd and Simon and Sari Koens set up the Redcliffe Bridge Club. Charles and Lillian Cockram played the foremost part in the formation of the new Club as they were experienced Contract Bridge Players and Charles a capable Director. This small group were tireless in their efforts encouraging new members and coaching raw beginners. In 1970 the club became affiliated with the ABF and QBA and started to participate in interclub matches with the Gympie, Brisbane and Northern Suburbs clubs. The Club became inaugurated in 1992 and for the next ten years operated from a number of venues outgrowing one after another. Our club now has a 15 year lease with the Redcliffe City Council in their building 'The Sutton Centre' at 157 Sutton Street Redcliffe. Our numbers are now growing rapidly, getting towards 150. |
